Privacy policy

Last updated: 1 October 2026

This policy explains how Digital Marketing Dean (“I”, “me”) collects and uses your personal information, in line with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and, for visitors in the UK and EU, the GDPR.

Who I am

Digital Marketing Dean is run by Dean Lurie, based in Cape Town, South Africa. I’m the responsible party and information officer for this website. Contact: deanlurie5@gmail.com.

What I collect

  • What you send me: your name, email, website, goal, service interest and any details you add in the Book Your Call form, or in a WhatsApp message or email.
  • Newsletter and self-audit: your first name and email, if you sign up.
  • Usage data: if you accept analytics cookies, anonymised information about how you use the site (pages visited, device, approximate location) through Google Analytics.

Why I use it

  • To reply to your enquiry and arrange a discovery call (your request, and my legitimate interest in responding).
  • To deliver services you’ve agreed to (contract).
  • To send the newsletter or self-audit report you asked for (consent, which you can withdraw at any time).
  • To understand and improve the website (consent, through the cookie banner).

I don’t sell your information, and I don’t use it for anything you wouldn’t reasonably expect.

Who I share it with

Only the service providers needed to run this site and my business: my website host, Google (email, Analytics and Tag Manager), and my email newsletter provider. Some of these store data outside South Africa, with safeguards required by POPIA.

How long I keep it

Enquiries: up to two years, unless we work together. Client records: as long as the law requires. Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, object to how it’s used, or withdraw consent. Email me and I’ll respond within a reasonable time. You also have the right to complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za).

Security

I take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information, including secure hosting and encrypted connections (HTTPS).
